A few years ago I sought out advice on my business - to make sure I had everything in order financially and was doing things properly as a new business. This gentleman looked over all my papers & statements and said to me, “why are you giving to charity when you aren’t profitable?” Needless to say I didn’t ask for more advice from him!
Maybe I’m an idealist, but I started Blyss because I had a passion for running and was frankly angry that women like myself weren’t being recognized or serviced by running apparel companies. I just wanted a pair of functional running shorts! That feeling of frustration coupled with feeling completely badass for being able to run after years of thinking I couldn’t, I will never forget. That feeling is what motivated me to start this business. Wanting to inspire, support and empower women so we all can be comfortable and confident doing things we love, is why I do what I do. It seems natural then to continue to come up with ways to give back to organizations that do the same. Especially now.
This Mother’s Day in lieu of a traditional sale, I’ve decided to follow the same path as our successful tank top fundraiser for PPE that just wrapped up. I will donate a percentage of sales from May 1-10 to support Girls on the Run. Because in these uncertain times, our girls will need empowering programs like Girls on the Run more than ever. Their mission is to create a "world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential." That is pretty awesome!
